While taking the course “Teaching Reading to English Language Learners” at the graduate certificate program in TESL at UNCC, all the students were required to create a tool kit with teaching resources. This page is the product of my research.
If you got to this page I guess it is because you have been looking for great Apps to use with your ESL/EFL students. Eventually, you may be looking for Apps for yourself, for your child, or for your students to learn English in a fun and interactive way. Well, I am a language learner, my son is growing to be a bilingual child, and I also teach English as a second language; I do use some mobile apps for those purposes. However, before presenting you some of the options I have found so far, let’s make some things clear:
- Mobile apps are not made to substitute the teachers or the school, they are made to complement the instruction.
- This page WILL NOT exhaust all the possibilities in mobile apps. There are hundreds of new options coming up every day, and all you have to do is to search and be creative on how to incorporate them into your learning/teaching.
- If you are a teacher and you want to suggest your students use mobile apps, be ready to tell them WHY this kind of instruction is interesting. To help you on that, I have posted some of what researchers around the world have said about it.
Now, go ahead and explore the suggestions. Click on the boxes above to find what you are looking for and have fun!
